Airobotics Boosts Local Presence in Australia

Airobotics continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Australian market by establishing an Australian entity, and appointing Richard Thompson as its first Australian representative.

It comes at a time when others are pulling back on investment in Australia.  At the same time however, the mining fraternity is looking at ways to reduce costs and create efficiencies throughout the sector.

Business Development Vice President Yahel Nov said that industrial drones have the potential to positively disrupt the market in the long-term and provide significant cost reductions.

“Australia is earmarked as the preferred growth channel for Airobotics,” he said.

“Our technology can save a mining operator hundreds of thousands of dollars each year across a range of applications – inspection, surveying and mapping, security and emergency response.”

Yahel said the company received a positive response to the technology during a visit to Australia in early-August when the company met with industry representatives, potential clients and government.

“Australian mining companies are looking for real solutions to reduce costs and improve safety.  Our technology delivers on both, igniting interest from a number of major players in the Australian mining community.”

Yahel said Richard Thompson, Regional Executive for Airobotics, comes to the organisation with an impressive track record in mining.

“Richard comes from an engineering background and previously worked with Ausenco.  He brings a strong understanding of industry issues and will work closely with mining companies to exploit the technology across the market,” he said.

Airobotics is forging on with plans to quickly enter the Australian mining industry, followed by plans to move into oil and gas.
